Tython: The Beginning.
Tython was the meeting place for many of the galaxies priests, warriors, scientists and philosophers in 36,453BBY. They came together on Tython to share and discuss their discoveries in a weird and mystical energy that at that time they called Ashla. At some point following this some of these people began to study what they called Bogan. This was the humble beginning from which these people gained the knowledge of the Light and Dark Sides of the Force. In the year 25,793BBY the Force Wars broke out on Tython between the followers of Ashla (Light) and Bogan (Dark). These early Force users didn’t have lightsabers. They used swords augmented through the Force making the Force Wars a very bloody affair. After ten years of conflict Tython was nearly destroyed, but the followers of Bogan were defeated. This eventually lead to the followers of Ashla leaving Tython to found the Jedi Order and act as guardians of peace throughout the galaxy. Tython was eventually forgotten by most of the galaxy for a long time after this.
Tython: The Old Republic.
In the events that precede the game Jedi Satele Shan rediscovered Tython and helped establish a new Jedi Temple on the planet after the Jedi Temple on Coruscant was destroyed. This cemented her place as a notable figure in the Orders history and reestablished Tython as the power base of the Jedi Order once more. There has been stories coming from Tython of Twi’lek pilgrims who have settled on the planet and also stories of vile creatures known as Flesh Raiders (pictured here) which appear to be some form of alien cyborg. The “alien cyborg” thing is only a guess on my part, but they look cool in my opinion so I wanted to mention them and have an excuse to include a picture. There is a “mysterious influence” emanating from the planet itself, which seems to be a rather open ended plot element at this point, but will likely be rather central to the theme of the planet (I hope). Much of this planets details are being kept under wraps at this point in its history, presumably so that we can experience it first hand when we play the game.
Tython: Hopes and Expectations.
Tython is the starting planet for the Republics Jedi Knight and Jedi Consular Classes. This is where you will learn your class if you choose one of the two Jedi classes. I am expecting the starter quest objectives and story lines to be rather simplistic on the lower level planets so that you can get a grasp on your character without being overwhelmed by other elements. However, due to the classes that start on Tython being Jedi, these starting quest chains will hopefully be rich in lore for the fans. As mentioned previously, little is known about Tython in both lore and gameplay but I am hoping for some higher end content on Tython. It is all to common for the “lowbie zones” in MMOs to become obsolete once you finish the starter quest chains and all of the beautiful areas become nothing more than faded memories once you get to the end game. Plus If the developers wanted to include some ancient Jedi artifacts in the game Tython would be a good planet to put them on.
