Jedi Knight
Movie comparisons are easy to make for the Jedi Knight. Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker from the original trilogy are good references. There are many Jedi Knights in the prequels, but Mace
Windu would have to be the prime example. The Jedi have always been peace keepers and emissary’s for the republic, but due to current events (including the sacking of Coruscant) in era of The Old Republic that SW:TOR is set, the Jedi have returned to Tython, where the founders of the Jedi Order came from. In The Old Republic the Jedi Knight class is looking pretty Epic.
So the most obvious aspect of this Class is the fact that you will be swinging a lightsaber in melee combat. But what is the gameplay going to feel like? What spot will you be able to fill in a group as a Jedi Knight? Well for starters, you will be able to close distance on your target by leaping massive distances, sprinting towards your target or pulling your target towards you. This should give the Jedi Knight a fast paced feel, especially in PvP combat. As for the role you take in a group, well that depends on the Advanced Class you take. The Guardian is the TankSpec for the Jedi Order. Guardian Abilities fall along the lines of heavy armor, shielding, generating threat and protecting group members from damage. The Guardian wields a single lightsaber. The Sentinel on the other hand, wields two lightsabers. Being the Jedi Orders heavy melee damage dealer is what the Sentinel is all about. Sentinel Abilities are aimed more towards high end sustained damage with some burst abilities. Overall, if you want to swing a saber for the Republic, the Jedi Knight is the class for you.
Astromech Droids seem to always be a favorite with Jedi Knights. R2-D2 was a loyal companion to Luke Skywalker, and his father before him. Obi-Wan had R4′s (R4-p17 & R4-G9), and T3-M4 was associated with both Revan and The Exile in the KOTOR series. Your Jedi Knight is no exception. T7-01 is the droid you are looking for (yeah, I said it). He is described as being “quirky and stubborn” due to not ever having a memory wipe during his two centuries of operation. T7-01′s blurb on the official site says that he views you more as a partner than a master, and also states that he has had “many special modifications” for both on and off the battlefield. In all the movies and also in games droids of this type tend to have a lot of personality and are often quite comical. You could almost argue that R2-D2 is the true hero of the entire movie series as he directly influences so many turning points throughout all six films and is the only constant character with full knowledge of events between Qui-Gon Jinn finding Anakin Skywalker and the eventual death of Darth Vader (C-3PO was mind wiped at the end of the prequel series). T7-01 apparently has the droid shock arm, which is the Electric Jolt attack the astromechs in movies and other games have used, but I am interested to see what these “many special modifications” will do for your character. All in all I think Bioware have stuck really close to what an astromech is supposed to be, and partly by virtue of this, they have given us another element of what a Jedi should feel like to play.
The Corellian Defender-Class Light Corvette is a mouthful to say, but is quite sleek in appearance. This ship was built with the jedi Order in mind and even has its own meditation room. It comes equipped with high powered shields and twin turbo lasers. The ship does have a sort of “sports car” look to it in my opinion, thus justifying the name Corvette, and the color scheme is very reminiscent of the interceptor Obi-Wan Kenobi piloted in Attack of the Clones.

Combat System.
***This game is beta and thus subject to change***
The Jedi Knight uses Focus as his/her combat resource mechanic. I believe the system works with some abilities generating Focus and some using Focus. The current Focus Pool is twelve with your character starting at zero before initializing combat. It is possible that there may be some alternate “Focus Through Combat” generation system, such as Focus being generated over time whilst in combat or generated through damage taken.
Strike- Basic Attack
Slash- Moderate damage attack.
Overhead Slash- Heavy damage attack with knockdown effect.
Force Pull- Pulls the target towards the Jedi. Works as an interrupt and generates threat.
Saber Throw- Throw your lightsaber at a target for moderate damage.
Cyclone Attack- Area of effect knockdown attack with low damage.
Force Leap- Leap towards your target dealing a low amount of damage. Also has a short immobilize and interrupt effect.
Sweep- strikes up to three enemies for moderate damage and slowing them.
Cleave- Strikes all enemies in melee range. Generates threat and has an Immobilize effect.
This Video is the Jedi Knights armor progression video. It has a scene of a character making his lightsaber, shows a little of the advanced classes and also showcases some combat moves. Enjoy.
